Question
I have a Track 715A drilled for good length with a strong backend. I'm not sure of the actual measurements but it's drilling #2, length with angular backend. My question is with my release the track starts about 3 inches to the left of my fingers and flares to the left. The pivot on the flare is just below and to the left of the thumb hole. After it flares the track goes perpendicular to my fingers. My finger holes face me after it rolls out in the spot that I normally see a counter bore. I'm not sure why it rolls out this way, it seems different than any way I've seen. Do you have any ideas what causes this? Is the ball drilled wrong for my release? Do you have any tips or comments?
Sorry if it's a little unclear, I don't know all of the jargon when it comes pin placement and drilling.
I bowl two leagues and average 185 and 190 in them. I had a 300 with this ball on the 10th game I bowled with it and my only 700 series 3 days later so I know it can be effective the way it is drilled but I'm kinda lost right now about what it's doing..
Thanks,
Brent
Answer
Brent,
You describe some things that don't make sense. The track rolls perpendicular to your fingers (onto and across them?) or parallel to them (above them)? The track is closer to your fingers than your thumb? Where is the pin, center of gravity and mass bias in the drilled ball? Could you take a picture of the ball, identifying the track lines?
Can you describe your delivery? Not sure what the driller was trying to accomplish, other than using a picture from the ball manufacturer to mimic the desired reaction. Did they ask any other questions? Did they see you bowl?
You've rolled the 715A well a few times, what would make you think it's not drilled right? When the ball doesn't perform to the 300/700 standard is it operator error? or is the ball uncontrollable? Describe what happens. Thanks for the question.
