CG vs locator pin

Question
Hi

Is there a standard distance a locator pin will(should?) be from the CG of a bowling ball?

Thanks,
Ron

Answer
Ron,
The top of a weightblock has a pin and the mass bias of an asymmetrical ball has a locator pin (smaller, contrasting color), 6 3/4 inches from the pin (top of the weightblock) identifying the side of the weightblock or 1/4 of the way around the ball.

The center of gravity could be inline, directly between the two pins or just about anywhere. The just about anywhere balls are called pro pins, pro CG's, or whatever (but they are usually not produced in large quantities on purpose).

So, I'd suggest that 2-4inches from the top of the core (Pin) is usually where you'll find the CG, ideally close to inline with the Mass Bias locator pin. Thanks for the question.
