QuestionI'm 70 years old and cannot handle the the reactive bowling balls currently on the market. I'm looking for a ball that I could normally put out on the 10th board with a late break to the pocket. I have always had a finger tip grip in any of the balls I have owned. I sure hope you have a answer for me.

Hi Bill, the first thing to pop into my head about your question was getting a urethane bowling ball. There are quite a few on the market that are really good. I like the natural by storm.
Also, perhaps it is partially the way you deliver the ball also. Those that roll the ball more forward rolling often enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that when the ball hooks they have finally hit the dry part of the lane. Those than spin the ball are often at a loss as to where the oil ends and the dry part of the lane begins.
In summary Bill, using a reactive ball is not bad altogether. If you spin the ball and you have a slow approach, you can look for the ball to put on a turn signal and go brooklyn left prior to the pins. If the lanes are dry and you have a slow approach with a spin release, getting to the headpin can really be a nightmare.
Getting a ball that does not grab the lane so soon is great. Using a release that is more controlled is a good thing too. The ball I would recommend would be a urethane bowling ball. The release I would want you to try would be the forward roll release. In my new bowling book, "True Bowler Adjustments," I describe how to accomplish this release and it's benefits to combat lane conditions, which may allow your current equipment to talk to the lanes, so you can work things out. I am so curious as to what you might do to get your game on. Keep in touch.
