Your Book/More Consistent Release

Question
Hey Gary,

I just got your book, but have not had a chance to dig into it yet. I am having ACL surgery next week and that will help me fill some time recovering. With that said I do have a couple questions that maybe you could help with or maybe your book does. I am a left handed 150-160 avg bowler. I have a slow rolling big hook ball and I want to cut down on my hook so I can be more consistent. What is the easiest way to cut down on my hook and work to have a consistent release? The one comment I constantly hear is I don't stay behind the ball. Thanks for the help and looking forward to reading the book.

Hi Kris, Thanks for getting perhaps the greatest book of bowling on the market today. ACL knee surgery is a tough act to follow. The doctors don't mess around. They get you into rehab and back on your feet as soon as possible!!! I love that. I am actually the lead surgical x-ray tech by day. I am an associate instructor for the UNLV Radiology program here in Las Vegas.  During your recovery, I am sure my book will put some wrinkles on your brain for sure.
Now the easiest way for you to cut down on your hook and become more consistent is to practice forward rolling the ball. You will find this in my new book. I won't go into details here, however this is where you will develop your "eye" to read the ball's reaction down lane. As, you master this release, you will no doubt learn to recognize when your ball is failing you a lot sooner. Since you have my book you can always contact me by e-mail with questions. This way your game will stay on track and progress past the 200 plateau in no time at all.
When others comment you don't stay behind the ball, most likely you will needed to see a video of your release. With today's modern smart phones and video capabilities millions of bowlers across the world are getting their first glimpses of themselves and their bowling delivery. When you coach over 250 bowlers per year as I do, it is such a great tool to show bowlers what they "really" are doing verses what they "feel" or can't feel.
In summary Kris, I suggest you try the forward roll release, also known as the end-over-end release. The benefits are endless. However, you may need the help of a coach to retrain your hand and wrist so you can repeat the shot. If you do it on your own, my book will guide you through the process. As always, since you have purchased my book, I look forward to a e-mail or phone call from you one day. This way we can keep up on your training and kick butt on the lanes together. Take care and best wishes on your surgery and return to the game! Sincerely, your Coach.
