QuestionI recently went bowling and attempted a 7-10 split. I went for the left side of the 7 pin and the ball rolled into the gutter, bounced out a little bit making contact with the 7 pin, but the pin did not reach the 10. If the 7 pin had taken out the 10 pin, would that bowl have counted in the PBA although the ball went into the gutter before making contact with the 7 pin?

Hello Juan, the answer to your question is no, it will not count. The following links list the rule in question.

Progress of Play
If pins are knocked down by a ball that has entered the gutter, or by a ball bouncing off the rear cushion, they do not count.

Legal Delivery
Rule 4a. A delivery is made when the ball leaves the player's possession and crosses the foul line into playing territory.
( When a bowling ball leaves the 39 board, 60 foot lane surface it has left the play territory and is termed a dead ball.)
Thanks for your question Juan. Hopefully one day you will right to me and let me know you converted the 7/10 or the 4/7/6/10(big split)! Best wishes with your future bowling.
