QuestionI used to bowl in the 160 range when I was in my 30's. I moved to Florida 10 years ago and am now 75 yrs old. I bowl in 3 mixed leagues in Boca Raton and have dropped in average to 130's, I throw a slow speed about 12 and am a tweener. I have taken lessons with some 7 different coaches in the area and it has not helped me much/ I buy 3 balls or so every season and cannot come up with the one ball that works for me. I seem to get good ball sometimes but it tracks out soon. I have used 12 13 and 14 lb balls in my search. I am currently using the storm Marvel which is fairly good. I have used almost most of todays reactive balls___Mission Taboo the cell the tropical heat and on and on. Can you please help? Stan Hiesiger THANK YOU

Hello Stan, Choosing the correct ball and drilling has to be a joint effort most of the time by you and members of your local pro shop. There is no substitute for someone putting eyes on you, to see how you deliver the ball and how it reacts for you.
The ball is a highlight in the bowling game, however, how the bowler is delivering the ball, is also a huge part of the puzzle. If you are spinning the ball quite a bit, but going very slow the ball may react too soon, or not at all. It just depends upon where you are trying to get the ball to down lanes. Exit the oil too late you go long, exit to early, you go Brooklyn.
Coaches pride themselves on giving the bowler a great release, if the bowler doesn't have one. For those who have a good release we can always try to make it better. My book has a lot of suggestions you can view to get an idea of where or not you may need to make a change in your game.
Stan, everything in bowling is based on ball reaction. You have to ask yourself are you getting the ball down the lane far enough, or is the ball hooking too soon?

In summary Stan, ball reaction is key. Figure out if you are spinning the ball a lot, or delivering it straighter than you care too. My new bowling book can help you get a handle on things. Thanks for your question.
