QuestionSir
I am on two leagues and bowl about 10 games a week. I use fingertips balls, 14lbs and avg 220. I have had this line of blood under my middle finger of right hand for a long time and now it's really starting to hurt. What is the best way to get rid of it..ICE? It could be that the weight of ball on pushaway and the finger holes are putting direct pressure on the nail. I do not want to quit or take time off from bowling!
Any help is greatly apprectiated.

Hi Don, keeping the rule in mind, "the body will only take so much," you no doubt are at the point something has got to change. Thanks for contacting me. My first thought was to simply pitch your middle finger away just a little bit more from the palm of your hand. Pro shop professionals can do this for you in about an hour, or two hours if they have "quick plug."
Overnight plugging is the other option. Secondly, you can have VISE "Vacu Grips" installed in your finger holes. I have quite a few high level bowlers like yourself using them because the ball does not hang up on the fingertips as they exit the holes.
You obviously seem to have the right equipment, and how wonderful it will be to not have to think about "pain" prior to your delivery, even worst, just after. Especially, when you know you can give the ball the true business release. I can already hear the pins screaming...
"What the ...!"
In summary Don, pain and the sight of blood is "not" good for your mojo! Bowling requires a distraction free, load and shoot process on the approach. You can't have errant thoughts of pain, or how can you hold the ball different, so you don't hurt yourself, going on.
Get the pro shop to change your pitch slightly on your middle finger. If it's better to try something different, you can try VISE VACU grips. This may give you that little extra room to project your shot, and the freedom to really whip the ball. Take care and thank you for sharing your bowling world with everyone!
