Squeezing the ball
Question
I know that I use excessive force and squeeze the ball beyond what is necessary. Question is how do I ease off and how do I know when I have eased off to the right pressure. Thanks. Andrew
Answer
Andrew,
Change the ball fit until you no longer need to squeeze.
Span length and pitches make up the majority of the fit. If your hand is flat on the ball, then pitches need adjustment. If length is short or long, you're working to get the ball off your hand.
If you like it long, pitches can help get the ball off but you'll need to squeeze (then hole size becomes crucial to not). If you like it short more pitch (less reverse or more forward or less away and more under palm) will help you feel secure without squeezing. Work with your driller, explain you feel like you work to hard and ask for help (or ask him to talk with me, and I'll help him).
Thanks for the question. Good luck and good bowling.
