QuestionHi I bowl on my league with synthetic lanes and fresh oil and I'm try to make sure if the Brunswick rampage has the right surface to play with. It polished right now and it works pretty good but I'm trying to figure out if it would be better if I sanded it and if I should what grit to sand it at? But what I lose more backend if I sand it?

Hi Tommy, I won't mix words here. Your ball will smooth out generally. It will also begin to read earlier. The cover on the ball was originally designed to snap to the pocket and be more angular.
Depending on the length and volume of the oil you bowl on the ball could do two things.
One read earlier and keep moving more left, or two, it will push out of the oil because the length or the oil and the volume of oil you bowl on and hit further outside of the head pin and begin leaving corner pins. These outcomes depend on your swing speed, type of delivery, and rev rate.
In summary, the only way to truly know what will happen Tommy, is to try adjusting the surface of the ball. Overall you will get a smoother more readable shot.
Before you change the surface of the ball I would recommend one more thing. If possible, visit a couple of bowling centers in your area. You may find that they have different oil volumes and different lengths of oil. You could be the king in one house, and in the other house truly missing the boat all together. One of the first rules of bowling is to get the right ball, for the lane conditions. Take care and keep in touch.
