How much does Black Zone Ball cost
Question
Hi there! My husband has a Black Zone bowling ball that I believe is 15 years old maybe 16. We are looking at selling it but want to know how much the asking price should be. It is made by Brunswick. What would you suggest?
Thanks for your time,
Jennifer
Answer
Jennifer,
Like a car with low miles, a bowling ball with NOT a lot of games might have some value. To someone that has experienced success with a ball like your Brunswick Zone, there might be sentimental value too.
Unlike a car, where shifting the seat forward or back prepares you to use the product, a bowling ball works best when it's fit and drilled by a professional. If the ball fits well, very little effort is necessary to "control" the ball (minimal grip pressure). So most likely your ball will need to be fit, laid out and drilled to work optimally for it's new owner. Those added costs usually cut into the value of an "experienced" ball.
Brunswick has used the Zone coverstocks (PowerCoil) very recently in their line, so they still hold up. So, you may start the bidding just under the entry level new ball price (around $80-90). If your ball is not in good shape, you may end up giving it away, but in good shape you might get $75 or more. Realistically, without seeing it or knowing how many games are on it, you'd be lucky to get more than $50.
Thanks for the question. Good luck selling the ball.
