Hi Sam, thanks for your question about the cork bowling ball.(Possibly wood bowling ball.) If you do have one of these wooden bowling balls made from lignum vitae, otherwise know as "iron wood." It may not have a lot of value except to a bowler.
I suggest you check the web. Then establish yourself an account on ebay just to test the waters for selling the ball.
Concerning your ball, I spoke to several bowlers during the 2012 Tournament of Champions Tournament held this week at Red Rock Lanes here in Las Vegas.
Walter Ray Williams, Jr. gave me a quick history lesson on the ball and mentioned that you should have it weighed. The wooden balls of old were quite heavy and could possibly be more than the standard 16 pounds of today.
To me, that would possibly increase it's value for sure because you would have an actual bowling ball artifact that is outside of today's modern standards.
Sam, since I have over 5,000 members on facebook, I may advertise the ball on my facebook page for you. That way I can ask the question, "who wants to buy and old wooden bowling ball and see who responds. If you are lucky, we/you, may get a couple of nibbles. If I get a few replies I will let you know. -Coach
