Questionhi gary, i am a 200 avg. bowler in my 50's. i have purchased a storm crossroads expecting to improve my game. it appears that my track area and flare are on the bottom of the ball instead of down the side. it also seems like the ball is spinning more than rolling. Has this type of ball been drilled wrong or is it the nature of the ballcore making it roll like this or have i just developed some bad release habit its driving me nuts thanks in advance for any imput.

Hi Jeff, bad release habit. However, in my book "True Bowler Adjustments" I ask bowlers to have at least two ways of delivering the ball.
One way forward rolling, spinning alternate, and if needed, a combination of the two. Throwing a back-up ball, or rolling two handed, can be other options in today's modern bowling.
Considering your flare. Whereas your ball track is so low on the ball, it would indicate you are spinning the ball mostly. The illustrations in my new book provides images of releases where you can truly see the differences between releases.
I could describe it to you here in print, however there is nothing like getting some coaching so you are not wasting time trying to teach yourself something half way. Half way often means a return to the same old muscle memory in time.
In summary Jeff, most likely you are spinning the ball. The crossroads is a great ball, however people who often comment that the ball is tracking wrong complain about the ball tracking over the finger holes more than anything else. A coach with a keen eye and possibly a video recorder can show you your release and correct the release to give you a more forward rolling ball. God's Blessings to you Jeff. I like the way you made the call on you bowling delivery....
