Bowlingballs
Question
Hi Warren,
I want to get her a reactive resin bowling ball that will help her hook the ball.Shes a 115 average bowler and wants to start to learn how to throw a hook.
There are so many good bowling balls out there. Do you have any suggestion on a ball i could get her she throw 11 lbs.
She has a brunswick slingshot now
Answer
David,
First, there are no magic bowling balls. Consistency and a degree of skill are still the basis for effectiveness in bowling.
Her Brunswick Slingshot is a reactive resin ball.
Lighter weight (6-11 pound) balls don't contain much inside. The cores of performance balls provide the "help" you're looking for. But in lighter balls, putting any significant weight inside can often overwhelm the minimal ball speed generated by the child, senior or women rolling them. So how you drill and roll a lighter ball become the keys to effect not a core.
If we use an automotive analogy, the plastic, urethane or urethane reactive resin coverstock
acts like the tires on a car, providing traction. The core can magnify her rotation and axis tilt to create hook like an engine provides power to a cars wheels.
I'd suggest strongly that if you find her a certified coach. She could learn to hook the ball. Once she has that skill, the ball can be even more helpful. Thanks for the question. Good luck and good bowling.
