dv8 hell raiser revenge
Question
QUESTION: I just got a dv8 hell raiser revenge bowling ball
I got it for heavy oil, but it is the weakest ball
that i own. I been using it on a typical house shot
and it has no hitting power. I use a roto grip infinite theory
and it crushes the pins on the same house shot.
I also have a storm virtual gravity nano that also hits hard.
my question is why is the dv8 hell raiser revenge so weak.
my average with the roro grip is 220 with the storm 215
with the dv8 200. If the cover stock is 70 percent of the balls
power why is this so weak. I'm a high track bowler the first oil
ring misses the thumb hole by 1/8 of an inch. The pin is a little
above the ring finger and to the right. cg to pin is 2 1/8 inches.
the mb is under the thumb and to the right. The mb to the pin 7 in
ANSWER: Ken,
Thanks for the details. It sounds like you're low axis rotation, which causes the ball to start rolling earlier than most. Where is the oil ring by the fingers? Close or further than the thumb distance? Pin maybe around 5 inches from your Positive Axis Point (Is it?). MB is a set distance from the pin and should be 6 3/4 inches.
Without knowing exact details of your rev rate, ball speed and tilt, it sounds like your Revenge is burning up. The cover is too strong and burning off energy before it gets down the lane far enough. Smoothe the surface or throw some polish on it and get back to me.
Thanks for the question.

QUESTION: the oil ring is about an inch away at the fingers
the only way to get this ball to move is to sand it
if i polish it nothing will happen. i don't know how to locate my positive axis point.
Answer
Ken,
When you have a fresh oil ring, pick 3 spots, at fingers, at thumb and around the other side of the ball. Draw a line parallel to the oil ring and where the three lines intersect, that is you PAP.
Have you tried it polished? Is the lane drier near the gutter? Or is the oil flatter in your home center? Do you roll all these balls at the same target? Are the balls all laid out the same? Have you rolled it after sanding? To what grit?
Thanks for the details, let me know more.
