Standing 9 pin
Question
I have recently joined a new league. It's the first time in 6 years of playing league that I am bowling on old wood lanes instead of synthetic. I am continually running into the same problem and have no idea how to fix it.
I am consistently crushing the pocket (or what appears to me to be crushing the pocket) and getting great pin action but I routinely leave the 9 pin. When this happens it never even gets touched. I'd say this is happening at least twice a game. Do you have any advice on how to correct this?
FYI I am a cranker and typically use the whole lane, feet starting all the way to the left and throwing over or to the left of the center arrow and out.
Answer
Ben,
Move on the approach about six inches back with your set-up. You will use a little more lane and give the ball a chance to burn off a little of the energy that's causing it to tear through the pins.
Give that a try and report back. Thanks for the question, Merry Christmas.
