bowling ball release

Lately I have noticed that instead of forward roll on my equipment I am getting more side roll (almost half spin), what would cause this ??

The roll you impart is from the hand position at the release. More forward roll is created when the hand is at the back of the ball (and the ball rolls off), while more side roll means you are rotating the hand to the outside (the portion of the ball farther away from the leg) as you deliver the shot, turning the ball as you deliver it.
