Bowling shoes

Question
League bowler (male, 65yrs old, RH)need to replace my 20yr old Linds classic shoes.  Should I consider shoes with universal sliding soles or stick to more expensive shoes with dedicated slide on left shoe?  Also, I wear size 14 wide dress shoe, what size bowling shoe should I buy?  The rule used to be buy a half-size less than the dress shoe.  Is this still true? And should I stick to regular width or go for wider width bowling shoes?
Thanks for your advice!

Answer
GW,
The half size thing was for Linds Shoes specifically. You CAN get Lind shoes to replace your Linds. They still make the Linds Classic. And they are one of the few manufacturers that make larger sizes.

Sounds like you want instructions to buy shoes online.

Not a fan. I run a real business that seeks to have what we sell actually work for the customer. That being said, if you wear size 14 wide shoes, your size will probably be 14 wide in a Dexter, Brunswick, 3G, Lind's Sport or Storm shoe.

Your years of experience with "performance shoes" will probably need to be respected. Universal soles are hard to transition to if you've experienced more traction with the non-slide shoe for 20 years. You bought them before because they are better shoes. You probably won't be ordering too many more pairs of bowling shoes, don't you deserve to close out your career with solid performance? Less expensive shoes are everywhere. Not every bowling retailer wants to work for you for less. If you can't find shoes you feel are reasonable. Let me know, and I'll help or suggest a route to get what you're looking for.

Thanks for the questions. Good luck.
