How to use my 3 months...
Question
Hi!
First of all, I thank you for volunteering to do this. I realize the time it takes to do such things, because I am somewhat of an authority on a certain card game.
I find myself with roughly 3 months before the next basketball season starts. Two of our Seniors graduated, and left me with very big shoes to fill. I have only played basketball one year previous to this post, and everyone thinks that I have made very good progress for one year. I can dribble with my head up, fast break, rebound, dribble behind my back and between my legs, and many other things I couldn't do when I first started. I am 6'3, 230 lbs. I also believe I will be playing a high post position. What things should I work on with such a short amount of time before the season begins? Also, what excersises can I do to improve my speed and verticle jump? One more thing. I don't seem to know all the lingo that goes with the game, so please try to explain things to me in such a way that I could understand it without knowing the lingo!
Thanks!
Daniel
Answer
Daniel,
Work on your shooting! Shoot from the free throw line to just in front of the basket. Practice shooting off the backboard from 8 feet and closer. Practice driving to the basket from the free throw line using only 1 dribble. Practice free throws.
Good luck!
