College recruiting
Question
what do college basketball coaches look for when they go to local area all star game or a summer camp.
The ages of the players are High school.
Answer
Hi Anthony,
Most all star games are for seniors and are toward the end of the school year. Most of all the recruiting has been done by the four year schools. If a four year school is recruiting a senior all star game they are looking to fill a void they have on the team. Usually a player backed out or didn't qualify and they need to find the best possible replacement. I would think the majority of colleges recruiting senior all star games are junior college schools. They would be looking for a player that can help there team. All star games are about scoring and putting on a show so when a player rebounds or plays defense in an all star game that goes a long way with me. I am sure most other coaches are looking for the same and really paying attention to attitude, hustle, and character on the court more then skills. It's an all star game so all the players should be half way talented. My advice to a high school player participating in an all star game is this. Have a positive attitude, play like the game means something, be unselfish, and play defense! If you do those things any knowledgeable coach will recognize you have more upside then a player trying to score every position. Good luck!
