Back Court Violation

Question
This is a rare circumstance that happened today at a pick up game...Team A establishes front court and takes a shot, there is a long rebound and nobody touches ball as it goes over half court...is that a half court violation without anyone from Team B touching the ball?  Team A recovered ball at the opposing foul line...  i called it a backcourt violation, as nobody from Team B ever touched ball.

Answer
Hi Karl,

This is a great question. The answer is it is NOT a back court violation. The reason is because once a player shoots the ball, that team no longer has "Team Control". And you must have team control in order for there to be a violation. I hope that helps.
