ball shot from under the rim
Question
My niece was in a grade school game and an offensive player rebounded a shot ball from under the rim. Her shot traveled backward, net first, through the rim and above and then dropped strait back down. The officials conferred and counted the basket. I can not find a clear rule on this.
Answer
HI Kevin,
According to High School rules, It's a violation. The basket should have been waived off, and the ball awarded to the opposing team out of bounds along the baseline. The officials unfortunately got the call wrong.
Thanks for the questions.
