ANSWER: Your has to learn that baseball is a game where you can't get to high when you do good and you can't get to low when you struggle.I would like to know how much work is he doing between games? He should try to find the positive in the game and dewell on those. You can think about the negitve just don't dewell on them.I still suggest working on the swing to keep his confidence up.

QUESTION: He is on a travel summer league. They have practice every night they don't have a game, only weekends off. His defensive game is fantastic, but this hitting inconsistency has him frustrated.
Answer
Please understand that you never get enough in practice.A player may get 60 swings at practice.I would try to find a private instructor to work with him.In an hours time he will get 300 to 400 swings with someone there to correct his mistakes and reinforce his good swings. If you can't find one send me a tape and I will take a look at it and tell you what I think.
