Winter League
Question
Hi,
I'm 15 years old. I didn't make my highschool freshman baseball team last year, it wasn't the biggest disaster ever. I made a travel team and played about 20-30 games over the summer. I hit around .220 and had an onbase % of around .360. Our team only won around 5-10 games, I committed errors along with everyone else and I felt responsible for the bad season even though it wasn't just me. I played for a fall-ball rec league and I either pitched or caught the whole season. I hit around .750 and had an onbase % of around .850. I am not going to try out for the highschool team as a sophomore. This detail is kind of for the question. I get nervous in the field and I'd rather pitch, catch, or play first now. I like to have fun during games and practices and not get yelled at from the coaches if we make one error. My real question is should I play at my local winter in-door league? I love playing baseball but I'm not sure about my level of talent since I couldn't make the highschool team. When I catch I have a pretty good arm but am not very good at blocking the plate. When I pitch I don't throw very hard only around 60/65 tops but I do throw strikes consistently. Should I join the league or should I just work on my skills and play spring rec ball?
Thanks, Ray
Answer
Hey Ray,
Baseball is a game.. treat it like one.. If you're NOT having fun, then why play? No one likes getting yelled at. Go where the fun is.. If the High school team won't let you pitch or catch then what's the point..?
Go where the funs at.. No fun sitting on the bench..Is it?
Good Luck,
Dennis
