Swing Correction

Question
My son is five years old and is playing T-ball for the first time.  He doesn't make a full swing and the swing he does make is a chopping motion from high to low.  What can I do to help correct his swing?

Answer
At that age there isn't really all that much that you can do. However, there are a couple that you can reinforce in his brain so as he grows older the swing improves. Tell him to keep his eye on the ball and most importantly to make a level swing every time he goes up to bat. Spend some time with him during the season and slowly guide his bat so he makes a full and level swing. As soon as he has the feel of what a good swing is suppose to be it will be easier for him to practice it.

It might take a few years to correct his swing but the more you practice with him the quicker it will be. Good luck.
