avoiding tag at home plate

Question
Runner rounds third coming home, catcher is about one foot in front of home plate toward the pitchers mound.  Runner crosses home plate before ball makes it to catcher.  Catcher turns to tag but runner has already crossed plate and was never touched.  The runner was called out for not sliding.  What is your call?

Answer
When independent little leagues decide to have a rule that you must  slide at home it is to prevent collisions between the runner and the catcher. The little league that I run has a rule that states that you must slide if there is a "play" at home. From what you described there was no play and the runner should have been called safe.

It is possible, however, that your league officials have a different definition of the word "play". If they consider that a play then I feel sorry for your league.
