Player leaves the game
Question
QUESTION: 12 yr old majors division, we bat the bench. if a player leaves the game say in the 5th inning because his parents say he needs to be some where else, is this an out when his turn comes up to bat.
ANSWER: Michael,
It is not an out. I have added the rule so you may reference it at your next game.
Rule 4.04 - NOTE 2:
For the Tee Ball and Minor League Division (and when the continuous batting order is adopted for other divisions) when a child is injured, becomes ill or must leave the game site after the start of the game the team will skip over him/her when his/her time at bat comes up without penalty. If the injured, ill or absent player returns they are merely inserted into their original spot in the batting order and the game continues. Also, if a child arrives late to a game site and if the manager chooses to enter him/her in the lineup (See Rule 4.01 NOTE) they would be added to the end of the current lineup.
I hope this has answered your question. Should you have anymore, please don't hesitate to ask!

QUESTION: Thank you, that was very helpful. One more question for you. What is the penalty,if there is one,for pitching a pitcher who hasn't met his days rest but pitches anyways.
Answer
The pitcher would be an ineligible pitcher, and is grounds for a protest. If the Protest Committee upholds that a pitcher is ineligible, then the game is forfeited to the opposing team.
The Board of Directors can also establish further punishment for the manager of that pitcher if they so wish.
For more info on Protesting an Ineligible Pitcher, read rule 4.19.
