batting during playoffs
Question
Last night we had our second playoff game, its double elimination. First inning bating went as usual, by the second inning we were already ahead by 6, our coach skipped my son in the batting order. I wasn't sure what was going on, but as we continued to get 7 runs and some kids were batting a second time and a third time almost back to back my son was still in the dug out, at one point he had a helmet on and was told to take it off. This had me very upset. My son my not be the best but honestly he gets good hits, he is equally as good as some of the others that were batting; even if it was about winning and letting the best kids hit, we were already going to win why wouldn't you let a kid who's been playing all season atlest go up and bat. My son was upset when we got home, and the coach never even explained to him why he didn't get to bat. Atlest tell the kid why, we are are talking about 10 year olds.Is this just how its done, or should I be talking to the coach. I don't want to seem like some crazy mom, and I know very little about sports. Please help-
Answer
Hey Heather,
You should be talking to the coach, hands down.. If he was in the line-up it is illegal to skip him. If he is not in the line-up you still deserve an explanation. Since your son had a helmet on, something is up.. This is NOT how it's done. This game is for the kids, and it's not all about winning anyway.
Talk to the coach before the next game and ease your mind..
Please let me know what happened.. Write me back.
