Answer
Hello gonzoman
It sounds like for some reason you have this belief that you don't deserve to succeed, so every success must be an accident. That does sound really stressful.
My question - how do you pitch in practice? If you pitch well in practice, then what's needed is to build a belief that EXPECTS to do the same in games.
Here's one way to do that.
Find a sentence or phrase that is what you want when you pitch. It has to be POSITIVE and in the PRESENT TENSE. An example could be: "I throw with power and accuracy"
When you are practicing, EVERY TIME you throw a good pitch, you say that phrase to yourself. This is using mental training to build up your confidence so you learn to expect to throw well. Practice this a lot. That's how you build a habit and that's how you change an old belief that's been holding you back.
Then, in games, before each pitch say your phrase to yourself and you'll discover that the confidence of all those successes in practice flows through you. Confidence in your ability is what will make the difference and allow you to pitch your best during games.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
