submarine pitching
Question
Are there any advantages to pitching submarine, if any? And how do you go about to improve on mechanics for pitching submarine? Do you believe it puts more strain on your arm, if so what age should a person began pitching submarine?
Answer
Nick,
I don't know anything about submarine pitching. I would think that one advantage is that not many players pitch this way so the release point may be deceiving. Improving on the mechanics of this style would be tough. I don't know any pitching instructors that teach or know the mechanics of this style. So, getting good instruction would be tough. If I could make a guess, I would say that it does put more strain on the arm. If you really want to throw this style it may prohibit you from playing other positions. I would throw the overhand to 3/4 arm slot style so you can be more desirable to future coaches.
Thank You,
