7 and 8 draft in little league
Question
i have coached in the little league for many years and have recently because
of the age of one of my children started coaching the at the 7 and 8 year old
level. our league redrafts the kids every year allowing for coach protects and
such. my question to the league and you now is do they have to do this?
they claim they must redraft the entire league every year because the age fits
into minor league and the little league rules say they have to. is this correct?
there are other local leagues that do not redraft they allow the kids to remain
on the team for their 8 year old year.
Answer
Steve,
Little League Baseball, Inc. gives the responsibility to the Board of Directors on how to distribute players in each division. You will need to review your league's constitution and by-laws to see how they have incorporated player distributions. One of the recommended procedures that Little League Baseball gives is to redraft every year.
I hope this has helped. Should you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
