Runs
Question
I am a coach of an 8th grade baseball team. In a game last night there was 1 out runners on 2nd and 3rd. The batter flyed out to the shortstop making the 2nd out. The other team ran off the field and our runners realizing there were 2 outs both scored. The umpire then decided to move the runners back to base, not counts the runs and put the other team back out on the field. The runs should have counted correct?
Answer
Well, there is no rule specifically in this situation, but place yourself as the coach of the opposing team.
Here's where common sense & sportmanship & a good umpire comes into play.....Maybe the umps in error said two outs & the team went w/ that. If you were the offended team, you would want the benefit of the doubt. In this case, I side w/ placing them back into play & correcting a situation. I know that's not what you wished to hear though.
Good luck....Andy
