All-Start substitution rules
Question
Martin,
The all-star rule that a player, who has been replaced by a substitute player, must re-enter the game in the same position, does that apply to pitchers also?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Scot,
This applies to the position in the line up, not necessarily the defensive position.
Ex: Player #1 starts in the fourth spot in the batting line up and is playing 1st base. In the third inning, Player #3 subs for Player #1. In the fourth inning, Player #1 re-enters the game IN THE SAME BATTING POSITION (fourth spot), and is playing 3rd base. This is okay, as the started re-entered in the fourth spot in the batting order.
I hope this has helped.
