all-star tournament game rained out after 4 1/2 innings
Question
Junior League (13-14 yrs old) My son's all-star game was postponed last night due to bad weather. It was in the 5th inning with the visiting team finishing three outs when it started. Before the 5th inning began the score was 3-1 with Bossier Central having 3 and being the home team. Blanchard (the visitors) scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning, making the score now 4-3 in Blanchard's favor. With Bossier Central's first batter at the plate, the rain came down and didn't stop. The came has been postponed for another day. My question is this: When play resumes will we get to play the rest of the game (7 innings with no time limit) or will we only get to finish the 5th inning and the game be over? I read in the little league tournament rules that if the visiting team is down in runs until the inning that the game is stopped in (meaning the took the lead at their last bat), the game will be finished in its entirity. Meaning we should play seven complete innings. Im sorry this is complicated question but I know there are circumstances to each situation. We resume play on Wednesday. Today is Tuesday. Please respond as soon as you can. Thanks
Answer
Hey Rhonda,
Tournament rules vary depending on the HOUSE rules.
My guess would be, since the game is not considered to be over, then you will complete the FULL 7 innings.
Noone in their right mind would have everyone come to the field to possibly play just a half an inning.. Let me know what happened.
Thanks.. Sorry on taking so long to get back to you..(The Holidays)
