QuestionRunner on 2nd only takes a lead, pitcher steps toward 3rd with no throw. Is this a balk or no call. Rules say you can't throw to unoccupied base unless your attempting to make play, right? But does this situation not open an arguement that pitcher was making play in that he was keeping runner at second? This happened to me in a Babe Ruth game and I no called it, leaving the runner at second. Help if you will.

this is a fun question. i am going to ask a friend for some help on this.
however, i don't know of a way to throw, or fake a throw, to an unoccupied base to make a play on a runner. (maybe a 3-2 count with runners on 1st and 2nd and they are running with the pitch. this might meet the criteria.)
