All-Star Eligibility for Little League
Question
I'm getting many conflicting answers regarding the 60% rule for Little League All Star eligibility.
We are in the Northwest and have suffered quite literally the wettest coldest spring since weather statistics were tracked (over a hundred years ago) as a result most of our teams have had anywhere from 30 to 50 percent of their games rained out.
The question is that LL requires each team to be "scheduled" for a minimum of 12 games and then states that each player must have played in 60% or more games. Is this games that the team played, or 60% of the scheduled games? Most of our players played in every game that was played which would easily meet the requirement if it is 60% of games played. However if it is 60% of scheduled games we wouldn't have enough players eligible at any level to field a team.
I can't imagine that the players should be punished for weather they cannot control but I am getting many different answers at many different levels.
Thanks!
Answer
Chris,
Contact your District Administrator or the Western Regional Director in this instance. They will have to contact LL Headquarters to receive a ruling from them as this is correct. I would assume that they would only count those games that were physically played. However, this is something that would depend on the situation and I cannot give a verified answer as I do not know how LL would rule on this.
I hope this helped.
