3rd baseman help?
Question
I'm 16 and just started playing this year on a organized team. I've played before just not on a organized team. I'm starting at 3rd base. i got switched to catcher for 3 games for our injured catcher who separated his shoulder. they told me not to throw down to 2nd because my accuracy isn't all that great. I'm just now going back to 3rd. i have a very strong arm, not that accurate. have great reflexes and my gym teacher told me i have the one of the best hand-eye coordination hes ever seen. I'm a good fielder. my batting tho needs some work. i almost always hit grounders to 2nd or ss the rest of the time its deep fly balls. i get walked occasionally and i can steal a base sometimes. i would like to know how i can improve my batting and improve my fielding to another level over a year or two. I'd like to work my way up to hopefully trying out at a mlb camp.
Answer
Sorry without seeing your swing or you giving me a little more info its hard to tell you what to do with your swing. But i will tell you to find someone in your area who can teach you the right way to hit. On fielding just get out there and field more ground balls. Work on back handing the ball. Work on coming in on slow rollers and being able to get rid of the ball quick. Work on deep throws from third after back hand. Plain and simple get out there and take 100 ground balls 2 or three times a week.
How would you rule?
