pitchig and RBI
Question
What player has the most RBI's for one season and how many? Also I was wondering how do they calculate who gets the win or the loss if there is more than one pitcher for the team (2 or 3) who does it go to?
Answer
Daniel,
Hack Wilson had 191 RBIs for the 1930 Chicago Cubs.
Basically, the pitcher that is in the game when their team takes a lead that the team never gives up gets the win. There are some conditions to this though - a starting pitcher must pitch 5 innings to qualify for a win. Also, if the official scorer determines that a reliever pitches very poorly, even though their team wins the game by scoring many runs, he can assign the win to a reliever who pitches better. But most of the time, whoever is in the game when their team takes a lead that it never loses gets the win.
Hope this helps!
