Question
I'm back and guess what, I can play baseball. All I had to do was sell my basketball for $45.00 and my parent's would pay the remaining amount. This is my last summer to make the middle school team, that's my goal and I'll work as many hours as i have to to make this happen. Can you tell me some drills that may help me indoors if you know any. Everyone says I stink at baseball, I know I sucked in fourth grade, I had only two hits throughout the season and struck out about 20 times, I'm not a great hitter, but the problem was, my coach wouldn't let me pitch!
Answer
Sanket,
That is great!! I am really excited for you and I am proud of you as well for making a sacrifice to get to play. You should also thank your parents for their effort as well. It is not easy to have to drive you to practice and games and all that stuff you know. Give your Mom and Dad a big hug and kiss and tell them you love them for what they do for you. It will make them really happy.
First of all you need to change your thinking. Do not tell yourself that you stink. Change that now and then start working at getting better.
The other thing is that you may not be a pitcher. Some kids just aren't. But you can work on it and see what happens.
I want you to go to the library and check out some books first. Make that effort and read them. Books on hitting and throwing and pitching. Then once you have done that, I will do what I can to give you some drills. I need to know that you are going to make an effort before I make one to help you.
That is easy enough, isn't it?
Get to the library this week or weekend and then let me know what books you have. Then we will talk.
We started our pitchers/catchers practice tonight and it went well. Once you get those books, your practice can start.
Go get 'em!
