Age and division play
Question
I have a daugter that is league age 12 (Aug. birthdate). She has always played up because her friends in her grade are all a league age older. She is in 7th grade and all her classmates are league age 13. Can she play up in the Jr.'s softball program. This is a Little League sanctioned program.
Answer
Joseph;
One item that Little League has tried to keep under control is the matter of league age, and players in the proper division. The ages that may play in the Junior Division are 13, 14, and 15 year olds. You daughter will not be able to play in the Junior Division, she will have to play one more year in the Major division before she is eligible for Junior Softball. It's difficult when you have members of a Major team that have played for 2 years or so, and then some leave. I see that all the time in our league. But that is just the rules of the game.
