Batting tee position; Girls softball 13-15 yrs
Question
What is the proper location for the positioning of the hitting tee so that hitters can best visualize the hitting zone? I see so many conflicting spots...If you look at the "Hit2win" stick their instructions show the ball postion at contact point over the plate. Isn't that a "little" late to make contact with the ball? Please help.

Answer
Actually, there is no one place for the batting tee -- the beauty of using a tee is that you can place it all over the zone to work on various locations. For instance, you can place the tee on the outside of the plate, and a little farther back, to work on hitting pitches to the opposite field. Or, place it on the inside corner at the front of the plate if the goal is to work on pulling the ball. You can adjust it to either the top of the zone, or the bottom, the possibilities are endless. The best thing to do is determine each individual hitters weakness, and place the tee accordingly.
In general terms, you are correct in that it is best to hit the pitch out in front -- unless the goal is to go to the opposite field. But not too far in front -- maybe the front edge of the plate.
Hope this helps,
