Optimal Warm up

Question
Hi my name is Chris and I am currently undergoing a degree in Human Movement in Australia. Alot of research has resecently gone into the detrements of static stretching and the suggested change to dynamic. What do you consider to be the most optimal warm up in relation to teh pre-game warm up?

Answer
Chris,

When I coached I utilized dynamic stretching for our warm up rather that static.  Obviously, this was frowned upon in the coaching ranks - but much of what typically coaches do isn't based in science- just in history.  I can't say in all certainty that it was a big reason for our success or lack of injuries (no arm surgeries in my coaching career), but I'm certain that it played a part.

Thanks,

Pat
