battig and catching
Question
well first i wood like to ask why do they have cupping on wooden bats?
secondly im not a very good catcher and i really want to play in that spot so do you know any drills or advice i could do?
thanks
Answer
Gman,
Bats are cupped on the end to reduce their weight just a bit. So you get the same length, but a little lighter bat.
As far as catching - the first drill you should do is have someone pitch to you. Lot's of repetition and with the balls going in the dirt. One of the catcher's main duties is to catch, so you need lots of practice.
The second most important thing is to work on your throwing arm. Practice for accuracy and a quick release. Again, the more repetition the better.
Hope this helps!
