Batting/ Baseball

Question
Court is 11.  He has a great arm but has a lot of trouble connecting with the bat on the pitch.  Can you give us any info that will help with the technigues of batting.  From stance to connecting to the ball.  thanks abunch!

Wow.  That's a very broad question.  I could write a book on hitting a baseball, but thankfully for the both of us, someone already has.  Ted Williams, one of the greatest hitters of all time, wrote a book called "The Art of Hitting".  I would suggest you start here and couple this with watching as much baseball as you can both with and without your son.  I'm not sure where you live, but there must be a high school, college, or major league stadium somewhere near you.  Take your son to as many of these games as you can and encourage him to watch as much baseball on TV, as possible.  The summer is also a great time for baseball camps.  Ask around about these types of camps and make sure they are put on by reputable experts.  Watching some games and getting him into camps where he can get some hands on instruction is a lot more useful than me describing in print, the proper hand/feet positions.  I don't mean to deflect the question, but hitting is a very difficult thing to teach via the internet.  If you have a more specific question, I'd be more than glad to help, but the book and some hands on experience for Court will do him wonders.  If I could give one piece of advice and I don't mean this as an insult to you or your son, but the most important rule of hitting is keeping the eye on the ball.  I know it sounds obvious, but throughout my playing days, whenever I had problems at the plate, it had to do with my concentration and keeping my eye on the ball.  No kidding.  Please get back to me and let me know how it progresses.  Like I said, if there is a more specific question, I'd love to help.  Good luck.
