STEADY SOARNESS IN ELBOW REGION
Question
Hello, I am a right handed pitcher for my Jv baseball team. I also pitched my freshman year and i had steady soarness in my elbow region. Usually the pian comes within an inning of pitching even with rest between. I was wondereing if you had any ideas, strecthes or exercises i could do to stop this soarness and pain in my elbow region. P.S. i am almost positive that it isnt tendanidous.
Answer
Josh,
Thanks for the question. The reality is that it is most definitely tendinitis. There are only a few things that elbow soreness can be. The number one thing is tendinitis. Next most common is tendinitis with flexor or extensor muscle strain. Next would be ulnar collateral ligament which results in Tommy John surgery.
It is very dangerous to self-diagnose when you are a 15 or 16 year old pitcher. It is not normal to have pain with pitching after only an inning.
My order for you is first to tell your parents. Second to see either your school trainer, your doctor or chiropractor immediately. This is not a matter to let go. Serious damage can result in the elbow in an untreated case of pain with throwing.
Talk to your parents now and get it checked out as soon as possible.
