Switching from right handed to left handed player at age of 15

Question
My son, 15, injured his right arm/elbow one year ago. After immobilization, surgery, and rehab, it is obvious that playing righthanded will not happen anymore. He loves baseball, is depressed about it; is it possible for him to switch to his left arm at this age?

Answer
Iola,

I am very sorry to hear about this injury and the road he has been forced to deal with.

Switching throwing arms could be possible, but I honestly have never seen it done.  You are probably asking for a miracle, but everything is possible.

What is it about his injury and rehab that is not allowing him to return to playing?  Was the surgery not successful?  Is he still having pain and function problems?

Let me know.
