batting rules
Question
I live in Adel Ga and have a son in little league and wanting to know the required times a child is allowed to bat. MY child did not get to bat at all in his last game and only played the field once.
Thanks Tracey
Answer
Hi Tracey,
it all depends on your league rules. Some leagues require a batting list of all players on the bench. Some require only those players on the batting list who actually play in the game.
Most youth leagues require a batting list presented before the game is played. Most coaches post the batting order so that the players know when it is time to bat.
If your league stipulates that only fielded players can bat, if your child plays in the outfield, he should have a chance at bat. If he does play in the outfield but does not bat, there is something wrong.
If you suspect your child is not getting a chance at bat, you should ask the coach. If the answer is not to your liking, I'm sure you can approach your association and ask them to clarify the answer.
So... I hope this answers your question. It all depends on your league rules for batting. For the most part, a 10 name roster can have 4 or 5 chances at bat - depending on how many players make hits and run the bases, etc.
