Surfing Bali
Bali Surfing is an all-time adventure, and has been providing this experience for eons, (decades)too many. Pioneers from all over the world have been riding waves so clean and beautiful that words can hardly describe them. Describing a Balinese wave to a Non Surfer, can only be used in such a phrase, like explaining a Mazda to a Ferrari! Get my drift?
Legends like Jerry Lopez and Kim Bradley were some of the first surfers to surf waves such as Uluwatu and Padang Padang
There were also Aussie surfers that took on the annual pilgrimage in the Australian winter. Yes, it all started after Albi Falzon created Morning of the Earth Surf movie and displayed Uluwatu in all its glory!
Bali Surfing was opened up, and many now use Bali as the doorstep to other world-class waves that surround its perimeter. Islands such as Nusa Lembongan, Sumbawa, Lombok, The Gillies and a few others have awesome waves too. Some say even better than Bali! I guess you would have to taste test it yourself and see!
Surfing in the Island of Bali just may have more waves in one small spot that any other in the world. The debate goes on! You can find these debates in websites such as the http://www.worldboardridersclub.ning.com
There are over 13 waves in Bali alone
Below are some of the more well know popular spots in Bali

Believe me there are more! How do I know? Well I have surfed them and travelled extensively all over Bali and the outer Islands, 9 trips to Indonesia all up. With 63 weeks travelling these wave dripping destinations.
Don’t forget the beach breaks they can get all-time, but that’s another story!
Bali Surfing and your first trip
Many surfers use Bali as their first trip, why? Well it’s easy to get around and dirt cheap. Most Balinese speak English and are hospitable. It is also reasonably safe and there are plenty of travellers to socialize with. (Have a beer after a hard days surfing). The food is okay and has a wide variety of Pizza to Mexican. The seafood is amazing and people smile with their service.
A good idea for you first trip on arrival is to book a room in a hotel or losmen and then search for something more suitable later. This way you are not dragging around surfboards and luggage in 30+ heat and extremely high humidity.
The Food and the Bali Belly.
There is a wide variety of food available. It is highly recommended that you eat where you can view the kitchen and the food preparation area. This way you know it was safe, remember just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean that it’s clean. Follow this rule and cut down your chances. Believe me it’s no fun running to the toilet with stomach cramps or worse, spewing out both ends.
Travelling outside of Bali
If you decide to travel outside of Bali searching the out perimetersit’s highly recommended that you do this with a close buddy.
Bali Surfing can be awesome, but there are other fantastic waves and people out there. If you don’t like the idea of travelling overland, or you are lacking time, you could travel with a reputable Surf Charter company such as Dreamweaver Surf Charters. This Australian owned company is well known as Bali’s number 1 Surf Charter, and they will take you to the southern Indonesian Island’s such as Lombok Surfing in comfort, style and take you directly to the best waves available on that day.
