Scuba Diving Equipment In A Nutshell
When it comes to scuba diving the most important thing is the training that you have, the next most important thing to that is the gear that you will need to have. Everything that I will cover here will be essential if you plan on making some deep dives.
Let me start off with the scuba mask, they come in many different styles but they all serve the same purpose. Do not sell yourself short when purchasing a scuba mask, especially if you plan on doing some deep dives, your eyes wont take kind to the water pressure if the mask happens to crack or break.
Next piece of gear that you must have is a BC, to divers known as a buoyancy compensator. A BC provides many essentials when it comes to diving and there are many types. They help the diver go the direction he or she wants to go, meaning up, down, or neutral. Bouyancy compensators also interact with the dive gauges and regulators.
You will also need to invest in a wetsuit if you plan on scuba diving. Wets suits will provide you with warm protection from cold waters, which will come in handy when diving in deep waters. When fitting for a wet suit you must make sure that it fits on you snug for it to work like it is supposed to.
Unless you can hold your breath for a very long time a diver will need a scuba diving tank. Scuba diving tanks supply the oxygen to the regulator hose so that you can breathe under water. You can rent them from dive shops if you are certified or if you have the money you can purchase your own and get it refilled with oxygen at dive shops.
Diving fins will help you swim through the water with ease, because they make more resistance in pressure when you are kicking, causing you to move smoothly through the water. Every scuba diver or snorkeler should have at least one good pair of scuba diving fins.
A must for the diver is a diving computer, often made into specialized watches that are made to withstand very high pressures. Diving computers will tell you everything that you need to know such as ascending rates, temperature of water, water pressure, oxygen left in tank, decompression, and how deep you are in the water along with many other things you will need to know.
There are many other types of scuba diving gear that you can also have like diving gloves, cameras, ropes, weight belts, dive flags, knives, bags, custom gauges and so much more. The number one thing about diving is safety, it is highly recommended that you take some diving training courses and become certified before attempting a dive.
