For A Thrilling Vacation Experience, Go Scuba Diving
If you're headed to Key West for a family vacation, there are many things to do, even if you're on a budget. Many activities are free, meaning they won't cost you a cent. This can help you stretch your vacation budget so you can include thrilling activities that your family will long remember like a snorkeling day trip or a scuba diving experience. These activities are incredible, especially if you've never explored the undersea world before.
No Diving Experience?
If you don't have any diving experience, there's no need to worry as the staff members at any of the various scuba diving companies will make sure you have a safe experience through providing you and your family with the training you'll need before jumping into the ocean for a dive. After some training, consider heading off with your diving company for a Lost Reef or a Widow's Finger Key West diving adventure. Regardless of your preference for a safe and easy snorkeling family adventure or a thrilling deep sea shipwreck dive, you will find plenty of opportunities for getting geared up to take in the underwater beauty this area has to offer.
There are training courses available for all skill levels, including courses for beginners who have never even been underwater before to those that have spent a lot of time underwater and may already have some scuba certification. With all levels of instruction, from basic snorkeling to advanced cave diving, you're sure to find the training right for you and your family.
Don't worry if you don't own diving or snorkeling gear. Dive companies in the area will not only provide you with training, but they'll also rent you a mask, flippers, tank, regulator, snorkel, or whatever other gear you may need. You can book an all day trip or even an overnight adventure for advanced divers as you stay onboard a boat for the thrilling adventure of a night dive.
A Memorable Experience
There are many different underwater diving and snorkeling trips available in the area every day. With over 35 diving sites, most of the shallower coral reef dives are in waters between 20' and 40' deep. Joe's Tug is a 65' steel hulled tugboat shipwreck sunk at 68' deep off the coast. It is accessible to most divers with open water scuba certification. The wreck is amazing, but the surrounding deep coral reef is quite impressive as are the snapper, eels, and jewfish who call this shipwreck home.
If shipwrecks sound exciting and you have open water certification, you'll probably also love a trip to the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, a Spanish treasures shipwreck, or the Henrietta Marie, an English merchant-slaver shipwreck. The hard part is squeezing enough time into your schedule so you can do all the exciting Key West diving and snorkeling there is to experience.
Regardless of you skill level in the water, you'll find this area provides you with not only a great vacation, but also with underwater memories and a thrilling experience that will relax and revitalize you and your family.
