Tweed country clothing from ladette to lady

Tweed originated in the 18th Century in Scotland; it is a pure woollen based fabric that comes in a range of natural colours.  While the fabric originated and developed in Scotland, by the 19th century it had progressed to London where it became popular in the production of men's suits and outerwear.  

As time progressed Tweed fabric developed from a course, scratchy material to the softer, lighter fabric as its is known today, the range of Tweed fabrics has also developed and is currently making a big impact on female styles and accessories.

 Brought to the mainstream fashion industry in the 1990's by designers such as Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano it is not uncommon nowadays to see Tweed country clothing and fabrics on the high street.  

Tweed is used predominantly for outerwear which main purposes includes hunting, shooting, polo and horse riding to name a few.  The market for ladies wear is expanding and now, while serving a purpose it is also fast becoming a stylish and fashionable area in the outdoor environment.
